Awards

Each year, WEF presents the Emerson Distinguished Service Medal to select members of the Water Environment Federation whose significant career contributions to the Federation and the water environment profession merit recognition. This award commemorates the service of the first president of the Federation, Charles Alvin Emerson, who served from 1928 to 1941, and was its first honorary member.

The criteria for the award include contributions to promoting and/or improving the standards of our industry through developing standards of practice, applied research, relevant teaching/training, relevant publications/books/papers/presentations, relevant professional accomplishments, public policy and regulatory contributions, and “Thought Leadership”. The criteria also includes contributions supporting the Federation’s mission to the profession through leadership in WEF through the House of Delegates, the Board of Trustees, leadership in WEF Member Associations, leadership in developing relevant conferences/ workshops, leadership in WEF through committees, work groups, and being a member in good standing of the Water Environment Federation.

 

The Nebraska Water Environment Association (NWEA) is a non-profit organization comprised of professionals dedicated to protecting Nebraska's water quality. NWEA is a member association of the Water Environment Federation (WEF®).
