The Nebraska Water Environment Association (NWEA) is a non-profit organization made up of professionals and practitioners who work with Nebraska’s water environment. We are the recognized authority and advocate for Nebraska’s water resources. Our Mission is to provide bold leadership, champion innovation, connect water professionals, and leverage knowledge to support clean and safe water.
We have established this grant application to further support our critical objectives by supporting our members who desire to implement strategies in support of our mission or leveraging other passionate individuals and organizations who are working in parallel to our mission.
Our critical objectives include, but are not limited to:
- Embrace Innovation in the Water Sector
- Enrich the Expertise of Nebraska Water Professionals
- Increase Awareness of the Value of Water
- Create a Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive Workforce within the Water Sector
- Sustain the Organization
Grant applications can be submitted at any time and will be considered on a revolving basis by our Executive Board at regular executive board meetings. After submittal, you may be asked for additional supporting information or asked to appear at a board meeting to provide further justification of your grant request. Our annual grant fund amount is based on the balance of our budget and is subject to change at any time. Grant awards will typically be in the range of $500 - $2,000, however if you have an opportunity that exceeds this amount and would greatly benefit one of the above objectives, you are encouraged to discuss this with a board member.
We have established a prioritization of how grant funds will be considered as follows:
- Supporting our existing activities by our members by providing funding that would enhance or grow our outcomes.
- Supporting a new initiative by our members that works to benefit one of the critical objectives stated above.
- Supporting an initiative by an outside organization that benefits one of the critical objectives stated above.
Outside organizations receiving a grant award will be assigned a board member to coordinate with. NWEA asks that our organization be prominently advertised or discussed in whatever activity or initiative we are supporting. The assigned board member will assist with this effort. In addition, we will request a follow-up summary indicating how the funds were utilized.
Outside organizations must be a registered non-profit or school system within the State of Nebraska. Proof of this may be requested during the application process. Outside organizations are required to have an existing NWEA member sponsor their application. A listing of our board members is present on our website at www.nebwea.org. If you do not know of any NWEA members, you are encouraged to contact one of our members to discuss sponsorship.
